Keep Going
In this episode, I explore the Buddhist teaching of "keep going" and offer three key insights for navigating life. First, I emphasize the importance of "keeping going" because the path itself is the goal, and we never truly "arrive" as circumstances and we ourselves are always changing. Second, I encourage developing "bump tolerance," drawing an analogy from paragliding to illustrate how accepting life's inevitable difficulties, rather than trying to eliminate them, builds resilience and confidence in our ability to handle challenges. This is akin to Shantideva's teaching of covering our own feet with shoes rather than the entire world with leather. Finally, I advocate for maintaining a "beginner's mind," which involves cultivating curiosity, questioning our assumptions, and remaining open to doubt, allowing for a more skillful relationship with our thoughts, feelings, and the world around us. These practices are practical tools for personal growth and for developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and our experiences.
