Between What Was and What Will Be
In this episode, I explore the Tibetan Buddhist concept of the bardos, or intermediate states, and how we can apply this idea to navigate life's constant transitions more mindfully. I reframe the traditional six bardos—which traditionally relate to death and rebirth—as applicable to everyday moments, viewing each present moment as a transitional space between what was and what will be. Key takeaways include recognizing that life itself is a series of transitions, that our imagination and moments of pause are powerful transitional spaces, and that consciously letting go of the past creates space for new possibilities. This framework offers practical applications for handling unexpected setbacks, like losing unsaved work, by shifting our mindset from frustration to opportunity, and can be applied to both small daily transitions and larger life changes by practicing awareness, pausing, reflecting, and choosing how we want to enter the next moment.
